The people that run this cemetery must hate the people of Elmira, the very city it is built in! They treat people that come to this place like we shouldn't be there. They get the most people to visit the cemetery in who knows how many years, and what do they do? They take out the reason the people were going there. Pokemon Go has been the biggest draw in for the cemetery, but because they did not want people in the cemetery walking around or just taking in the scenery while playing a game on their phone they remove EVERYTHING to do with the game. Shame on you Woodlawn! Elmira feels the same way about you!

* John Arnot, Jr. Congressman, Mayor, Civil War Veteran, Businessman

Really was cool seeing all the gravesites and memorials for these young men who fought in the Civil War. The only thing really left is the cemetery, there are only historical markers showing where the Union POW camp used to be.

The Woodlawn Cemetery complex is actually two cemeteries.

* Hal Roach comedy film & television producer

* Lucius Robinson, Governor of New York

The second cemetery is Woodlawn National Cemetery, begun during the American Civil War as a burial ground for the nearly 3,000 Confederate prisoners who died at the Elmira Prison Camp. Many were buried by John J. Jones, and escaped slave and sexton of a local church.

The larger of these is Woodlawn Cemetery, which is the final resting place of author, humorist, philosopher Samuel L. Clemens, better known as Mark Twain, Hal Roach Jr., American film pioneer and producer of the Our Gang series as well as many other films, and of Ernie Davis, first African-American winner of the Heisman Trophy.

The famous people are listed below. Most notably Mark Twain and most of his wife's family.

* John W. Jones ex-slave and sexton of Woodlawn National Cemetery

* Mark Twain author

This is a very well kept cemetery that has many famous people buried in it. They give tours and even Halloween tours in the fall. Great tours of grave sites that include Mark Twain.

* Jacob Sloat Fassett Congressman

CrushUrPride, I'm glad I don't play that Pokemon game. At least Woodlawn loves Ingress, Niantics other game. We still have all our stuff in their and they let us keep it. We're able to play in there 24/7, night or day, and they don't care what we do in there or when we do it or how we do it. Well, just the other night there were some Elmira folks in there all hours of the night Playing. Woodlawn loves Ingress and Elmira loves Woodlawn
